Where Once Stood A Bandstand for Cruising & Shelter offers a social life for the text from my 2017 Nuit Blanche performance of the same name in which 24 hand-lettered tyvek banners were unfurled from scaffolds in Queen’s Park over a 12 hour period. Isolating the words from the spectacle, this book allows for a more intimate reading of the text that fell with the banners.
The book riffs deeply on Joyce Wieland’s 1971 True Patriot Love catalogue/artist book.
